Is the game getting a physical release?

I want to purchase it for either PS5 or Series X, ideally physically.

Yeah I’d like to have it for Series X but not if it’s going to require a download to play anyway (not talking about patches). I usually go Switch to avoid this, but I see that it isn’t getting released on Switch according to the homepage?

I’d love to have a physical copy for PC. I’m older and old-fashioned, so I don’t use streaming or steam or whatever there is now, lol.

I’ve got a PS5 and have my fingers crossed for a physical release.

My Star Trek games shelf won’t look the same without one

I’d love to have a PS4 version physically. Haven’t bought a Star Trek game physically since that awful 2013 game that was a prequel to Into Darkness.

I’m hoping it gets a physical release, especially if there’s a collectors edition with additional goodies… a model of the ship maybe?

Physical release is what I am looking for. Always enjoyed the tactile feeling of media.

I was hoping it would be ready for launch as my friends and I all want to play at the same time.

As nice as it is, I’m not even looking for a physical release for the “tactility” but for the practicality. This is a licensed game which means it has a higher chance of getting delisted off of stores and being unable to redownload. That’s not an issue with a physical copy though. Sure it’s more inconvenient than digital. But it’s worth it for that piece of mind.

Im also on board for a physical copy. Hopefully a collectors edition with the Resolute model. I especially want a steelbook

I would hope so, but my gut says no sadly. :-/ This is a new studio and their first game, might not be possible. Then again, Prodigy: Supernova got a physical release on PS, Xbox and Switch when it was released a few months ago. As someone else said above me, a physical copy to have and to hold forever and ever for practical reasons would be VERY VERY welcome.

So the Resurgence twitter account just confirmed “Star Trek: Resurgence will be a digital-only release at launch.” They also said that “logistics simply didn’t come together in time” for a pre-order, so it was obviously something they looked into which make me wonder if a physical release was also something they looked into, but just couldn’t manage?

And the “at launch” also has me wondering if there’ll be some kind of secondary release at some point in future, maybe physical versions, as well as being released on Switch and Steam?

I don’t know if any of the devs are actually reading these forums, but if I buy the game digitally on release, as much as I’d love a physical copy, unless there was some kind of Special Edition which came with some extras I don’t think I could justify buying one until the pre-owned prices came right down.

Not unexpected news, sadly. Maybe someday in the future if this does REALLY well, we might get a physical release. Sad to see so many comments on Twitter/IG saying they’ll skip the game down because it’s digital only. Part of my reasoning for buying this as soon as I can is to do my part, help show Paramount, CBS and the developers that there is an appetite out there for ST games beyond STO. I still haven’t played it, but it’s what I did a few months ago with Prodigy - Supernova. Bridge Crew did well enough that it got two DLCs added on, but it doesn’t seem to have convinced Ubisoft to continue on with the license to make other kids of games (I never played it cos of the VR element, even though I know that restriction was eventually removed). So I’m hoping there’s enough of us out there that will take a chance in the first few weeks and months to make a difference going forward, when the money counters are paying attention to these kind of things.

We are. And we care. But video games are a complicated business and we have to let information flow through the appropriate channels. Keep watching our twitter.

But if you want to talk about Star Trek in general… and maybe some safe, non spoilery questions about the game… I’ll be around.

I know you can’t confirm or deny anything, especially with the contract with Paramount, but as you said, information must flow through the appropriate channels. But that advice to keep watching your guys’ Twitter sounds promising and gives me hope.

Speaking of that contact, is that only for this title or do you have the rights to make other games using the Star Trek license?

Or considering NDAs and the like, if you can’t answer that, thenI’m hoping this wording will be able to better grant an answer. Not asking for the result, but have there been any discussions with Paramount of the possibility of development of further games using the Star Trek license? Again, not asking for the result of those discussions, just if they’ve happened.

@jdstrawesome Don’t worry, I totally get having to be tight lipped, just that if/when plans for the future are talked about, I hope you remember what’s been mentioned here in this forum (hint hint, collectors edition physical release )

@SciFiBrony, my friend, those are precisely the kinds of questions us devs shouldn’t be answering on a forum

To even talk about what we want to do or are thinking about doing or with whom and about what we’re talking could easily create internet rumors that get out of hand.

So please be patient. Please be understanding.

@MadeIndescribable if you insist. :smile:

As Kirk said to the admiral in Star Trek III, “I hear you. I had to try”

That would certainly work for a collectors edition of the game.
